St. Augustine famously said that “to sing is to pray twice.” Augustine reminds us that the words of our hymns are prayers (often direct quotes from the Bible), and when we sing them, we add another dimension of honor and praise to our song–we pray twice.
The Music Ministry program at Sacred Heart encourages the “full, active, and conscious participation” of the congregation by providing musical leadership at our liturgies. Everyone is encouraged to sing, not just the choir!
